Fill-in Form
Data pasted into a form field sometimes loses formatting, so please take these suggestions into consideration:
- Please insert a space between all paragraphs
- Submit only one story per form
- Submit no more than five poems per form
- If you are submitting more than one form, there is no need to repeat any field other than your name and email address
- The Quarterly accepts up to 3 stories and 10 poems per person
Email Submissions
If you prefer to email your work, please fill out the form and, in the final text field, enter your email address. We will contact you with an address to which you can email an attachment. Guidelines:
- Acceptable formats: DOC, RTF, PDF
- Please combine all short works and poems into one document
- Poetry should be single-spaced; short fiction, double-spaced
- Include your name somewhere in the document itself
- No multiple submissions (to more than one publisher)
- No spam submissions
General Guidelines
In general, Cosmopsis recommends you do the following:
- Proofread your work
- Use standard serif or sans-serif fonts (Times New Roman or Arial)
- When submitting a novel or book-length work of prose, include only the first 30-50 pages.
You will hear back from us, but possibly not for a while. If you are submitting to the Quarterly, you should hear back within a month of the submission deadline. If you are submitting work in general, expect a reply within two months. We will make a reasonable attempt to answer any questions you have regarding the work, but we cannot offer specific feedback on every received submission.
Advice for submitting poetry to the Quarterly:
In general, it's hard to appear in the Quarterly if you submit the following:- Sonnets
- Villanelles
- Haikus
- Quatrains
- Limericks
That is not to say if you have one of the above you will not be published; it just means you have only a slight chance to get into the journal (provided your work is outstanding).
